I hope that this message finds everyone having a wonderful summer.
Summer is such a great opportunity to spend time with family and
friends, refresh the mind and soul, and enjoy the amazing places and
opportunities that surround us in Central New York.It is an honor to be serving as the Principal of West Genesee Middle School. This is special community that I have been very fortunate to be a part of as a student, a teacher and coach, as Assistant Principal at WGMS and now as the building Principal.I look forward to working with you, our incredible staff, and our students to maximize student achievement and learning at West Genesee Middle School.
Continue to encourage your kids to read throughout the month as we slide towards the start of the school year. There are great books on our summer reading list, some of which you would enjoy reading along with your child.
On Wednesday, August 29th we will have our annual Locker Night at WGMS from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. This is a great opportunity for students to get into the building and practice their locker combinations.There is often a great deal of stress associated with these lockers for our 6th grade students. The more practice they can get, the better off they will be and you will quickly see some of that anxiety melt away. Please take advantage of this opportunity.
Some other important dates to make note of are:
Wednesday, September 5th: First Day of School
Thursday, September 13th: WGMS Open House, 7:00-9:00 PM
It is important for everyone to note that the first two days of school are both half days and students will not be eating lunch in school on those days.
I encourage you to get involved with our PTA and with the many events that we will be having throughout the school year. Enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to seeing everyone in September at Open House.
